Hello Beautiful was written in 1930 by Walter Donaldson. In 1915, Donaldson wrote his first hit songs, and over the following 40 years he composed and published over 600 songs. In 1930 he also wrote his popular hit songs Making Whoopee and My Baby Just Cares For Me. His song Did I Remember from the movie Suzy was nominated for an Oscar. In 1931, Hello Beautiful was featured in the Talkartoon Bimbo's Express. In the short film the song is sung to Betty Boop by Bimbo with the voice of Maurice Chevalier, later the song is sung by Bimbo and Betty. The song also appears in Fleischer's 1931 Screen Songs film My Wife's Gone To The Country, where it is briefly sung by Ann Little as a Betty Boopish flapper. The song appears again in 1932 when Betty Boop imitates Chevalier in Stopping The Show. That scene is repeated in the 1934 short film Betty Boop's Rise To Fame. Chevalier had made a name for himself in France 1909, and he enjoyed instant fame in America when he arrived for his 1922 Broadway appearance. He soon made his way to Hollywood, and received the Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in 1929 (The Love Parade) and in 1930 (The Big Pond).

HELLO BEAUTIFUL
Oh, dear, look at who's here,
Look at those blue eyes,
Wonder would those eyes
Refuse me?
Oh, joy, look at those lips,
Look at that sweet smile,
Follow that just please,
Excuse me!
Hello, beautiful!
How'd you get so beautiful?
How'd you get that sunshine in your smile?
Tell me, beautiful,
Where you going, beautiful?
How'd you like to romance for awhile?
When you're near, what joy and cheer you're bringing;
Can't you hear the bees and birdies singing?
Oh, hello, beautiful!
How can you be beautiful,
And still be mother's angel child?
Hello, beautiful!
How'd you get so beautiful?
Are they all like you where you belong?
Listen, beautiful,
You're so doggone beautiful,
You're an inspiration for a song!
Pardon me, are you the kind of baby,
Who would answer yes or no or maybe?
Oh, hello, beautiful!
Listen to me, beautiful!
Fifty million Frenchmen can't be wrong!
Oh, dear, look at who's here,
Look at those blue eyes,
Wonder would those eyes
Refuse me?
